ABOUT THE ROLE

STEM From Dance has been on a consistent growth trajectory for the past nine years, increasing our budget by 10X and doubling our students served annually. We are at a pivotal and compelling moment as an organization and are thrilled to have the opportunity to welcome a new Manager, Programs to play a critical role in our next stage. This role reports to the Director, Programs.

As the Manager of Programs, you will lead and manage SFD’s “immersive” programs. This includes our summer programs and fellowships, which are designed to further and deepen the impact over a longer period of time compared to our other programming. You are a strategic thinker, an exceptionally detailed planner, an effective relationship builder, and a team player. You are obsessed with creating systems that are efficient and accurate. You are able to support multiple priorities and move individuals toward stated outcomes. Last, but not least, you are driven by a belief that all girls can have a future in the STEM fields, and you are passionate about supporting them in getting there.

ABOUT STEM FROM DANCE

STEM From Dance envisions a world where underrepresented minority girls are creative, confident, and equipped to be leaders and innovators in the STEM fields. To this end, SFD gives girls access to a STEM education by using dance to empower, educate, and encourage them as our next generation of engineers, scientists, and techies. Since 2012, SFD has partnered with schools and communities, serving more than 1,000 girls across New York City and beyond.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Manage program planning
    • Organize, prioritize, track, and manage program workflow and resources
    • Set and reach enrollment goals
    • Plan concurrent, multi-site programs
    • Manage stakeholders across and outside of the organization
  • Manage program implementation
    • Ensure students receive a supportive, high-quality educational experience
    • Ensure smooth, efficient, and successful execution of programming at sites
    • Implement and develop systems and procedures that ensure efficient program operations
    • Observe program sessions and provide feedback to ensure that programs are being delivered with fidelity to the model
    • Oversee the administration of evaluation tools (e.g. participant surveys, focus groups, assessments)
    • Manage the recruitment and enrollment of participants to achieve the targeted number of participants
  • Manage instructional staff
    • Manage, coach, and inspire a team of instructors
    • Recruit, train, and onboard new instructors
    • Facilitate team meetings and trainings
    • Establish a supportive and inclusive culture among instructors
PRIOR EXPERIENCE
  • At least five years of experience in a professional work setting required
  • At least three years of program coordination or management experience
  • Experience working in the K-12 education field is required
  • Experience managing people and providing feedback is required
  • Experience with STEM is preferred but not required
  • Experience with dance in a formal setting is preferred but not required

WORK DEMANDS
  • STEM From Dance is headquartered in New York City, with programming taking place across the country, mostly on the East Coast of the United States. Candidates can be based in the Northeast/Mid-Atlantic Region with an expectation of remote work and regular, in-person meetings in New York City and site visits. This position, in particular, requires extensive travel to sites during the summer months. Employees must be available for meetings between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. EST, and New York City-based employees work from the office at least two days a week.
  • Occasional weekends and evenings required
  • This position will require the employee to lift, bend, stoop, walk, speak and stand for up to 6 hours a day.
SALARY & BENEFITS

Salary and benefits are offered for this role. The salary range will be between $55K - $65K. Benefits include health insurance, 401(k) retirement plan, generous paid time off, flexible schedules, and extensive learning opportunities.
