A Moving Moment
The spark that became STEM From Dance was struck when our founder & CEO walked into her first mechanical engineering class at MIT. She was shocked at how few women of color were in the room.
As she stepped into her own STEM career, she was moved to use dance — a confidence builder that helped her power her way through tough engineering classes — to light the way for girls of color to pursue STEM careers. Today, we’re empowering thousands of bold and brilliant girls of color across the US to become the next generation of STEM leaders and innovators.

2022 - Advance
As we celebrate 10 years of inspiring girls of color to reach their full potential, we begin our next chapter.2022 - Grow
We host in-person programs in Atlanta, Tampa, and Houston— our first outside of NYC.2021 - Empower
We award our first alumni scholarship to Makeda Neavill, who says, “At STEM From Dance, what I had to say and what I achieved mattered. I went from being a quiet kid in my classroom to the girl that was leading the change at my school.”2021 - Expand
We host our first program outside of the US in partnership with Vive Bailando in Colombia, South America.Leaping Forward
