Five years ago, Sokona began her journey at STEM From Dance without any coding experience. Yet she quickly discovered she had a knack for it. Her time at STEM From Dance gave her the confidence to take introductory coding courses at Bates College and eventually declare a major in Mathematics. With graduation approaching, Sokona now has her sights set on careers in data analytics, architecture, and even social justice work. One thing is sure; she doesn’t want to be picky - STEM From Dance taught her to keep an open mind about her future. “I think the program opened my world to coding and just getting out of my comfort zone. I realized you’ll never know if you don’t like it until you try it.”
